2025 ACC Bubble Update, Feb. 25

The latest 2025 ACC bubble update, ahead of March’s NCAA Tournament, is going to be sad times for this once-proud conference.

Anchored by Duke and North Carolina, the ACC used to snatch up bid after bid every season. For example, pre-Covid back in 2019, the ACC got seven teams into the field, and only the Big Ten got more. Now, several of these conferences have expanded even further and soaked up basketball talent, while the ACC has struggled to keep up with the other major players.

Last year, the ACC got five teams in the Big Dance, and that was considered a disappointment. If you don’t like that, then you’re definitely not going to like where the conference is heading this season. Even blue-blood North Carolina might get left out in the cold.

Is The 2025 ACC Bubble Update That Bad?

The video is fine, but the conference is not.

As of today, we forecast just three bids for the ACC, with only a few weeks to go until Selection Sunday. Some of these teams will need to get hot – very hot, in fact – in the upcoming ACC Tournament to give themselves any fighting chance.

One thing that the ACC bubble teams have in common is not only a lack of depth of quality wins, but a lack of good games on their remaining schedule. Because the ACC is down, it’s not like the SEC where it seems like every night you step on the court, it’s a chance for a quality win. North Carolina beating Florida State on the road last night, however, is generally meaningless because the Seminoles aren’t that good. Duke, Louisville, and Clemson are the only notable teams of any quality, and if you don’t beat them at some point, you are not going to pad your resume anymore.

When Is The 2025 ACC Tournament?

We prepared a full calendar of all 31 conference tournaments, broken down by conference and by day. The conference tournament action is due to start next week, so buckle up, because it’s going to be wild.

As for the 2025 ACC Tournament, it starts on Tuesday, March 11 and ends on Saturday, March 15.
