2025 Big East Bubble Update, Feb. 27

The 2025 Big East bubble update is looking good for four teams in the conference, which represents an uptick from last year.

Yes, that’s right: The Big East got three teams into the tournament in 2024, but the pleasant news for them is that St. John’s has decided to be good again. They are on track to add at least one new bid to their prior pile, but are there others in the offing? We’re not so sure.

Our latest video, released February 27 alongside a mid-week bracket update for college basketball’s field of 68, breaks down where each Big East team would land if the season ended today. It’s our way of assessing the tournament probabilities for each team, and of course, the NIT and going home are likely for a handful of them.

When Is The 2025 Big East Tournament?

The Big East Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 12 and ends on Saturday, March 15, one day before Selection Sunday. A full calendar of conference tournaments can be found here.

As always, the tournament will be held at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

How Is The 2025 Big East Bubble Update Looking?

I mean, I thought the video was pretty decent. As for the content, meaning the teams in the Big East themselves, they are on track for four bids, and we are very confident that this is their floor. A lot would have to go wrong in the last few weeks of the season and conference tournaments in order for the Big East to fall below four bids.

Their maximum, as in best-case scenario, is six bids. However, we find this more and more unlikely by the day. Just as a lot would need to go wrong for the conference to get fewer than four, a lot would have to go right for them to get five or six. By far, the most likely outcome is four bids.
